One Year CD Rates for the Week of September 25, 2009

One year CD rates available nationally experienced no change for the average rate.  The average of the best one year CD rates held at 2.03%, the same as the previous week.

The best one year CD rate available remained constant along with the average.  The highest one year CD rate is promoted by UmbrellaBank.com which offers a one year term CD with an interest rate of 2.15%.  NewDominion Bank of North Carolina had the second best one year CD rate but has been eclipsed by State Bank of India which is based in New York.  State Bank of India increase their one year CD rate to 2.07% which is now the second best rate available nationally.

NewDominion Bank held their one year CD rate at 2.05% which is the third highest rate.  This CD rate is also being offered by One West Bank based in Pasadena, CA on their one year term CD.

Following that rate, two banks are marketing one year CDs with an interest rate of 2.01%.  Both, Nexity Bank and Giant bank promote one year CD rates of 2.01%.  The remainder of the top ten bank rates with a one year term offer yields at 2.00%.  One year CD interest rate offers at 2.00% include Ally Bank, Ascencia, Nationwide Bank and iGOBanking.

This past week, the six month CD rates as well as the one year CD rate averages were unchanged.  The average of the best two year CD rates slipped marginally with two year CD rate dropping to 2.34% from 2.35%.  The five year CD rate moved up in yield from 3.38% to 3.40%.  The state banks and regional bank yields were not nearly as sedate with interest rate movements equally spread out between increases in rate and decreases in rate on the year term bank CD.
